I started playing paintball a few years back. I really love it. Gets all my anger and frustration out. From left is my friend Sandy, Myself, my friend Sam, and her Boyfriend and my best friend Ben.

We had a Softball game against the cops this year. We won 20-19 thanks to our chief. I really didnt help out that much with my 0-3 batting, but I had a ton of fun. My number is also my Badge number, and the saying on my shirt is, "ohhh noooo" its one of my nicknames at the fire station. long story haha.

Hello all. I hope all is going well with you. I just wanted to throw out a few things I've been up to the past year or so.



I graduated Paramedic school in Febuary of 2008 and started practicing in the start of April. It was a rough year of school that I am very happy to be done with. I am currently still part time at Country Club Hills Fire Department as a Firefigher/Paramedic, but i get roughly max hours every pay period so its almost like I am working full time. I have my application in there for full time hoping to start next year, if they ever finish our fire station. Huge battle with the county on where the sewer pipes and water pipes can go. We just bought a brand new ladder truck that is too big to hold in our station now that can only fit in our new one and we can't even use it yet haha.



I am in school right now trying to finish up my associates degree in Fire science at PSC in Chicago Heights. I have chemistry and a buisness writing class I'm taking right now, and next semester I have all of my Officer classes to take. Those are only offered on Sat and Sun so my weekends are shot for the entire semester almost. After I get those classes done with though I will have my AAS in fire science. I am currently looking into Joliet Junior College to obtain a degree in Paramedicne also. I'm still not sure if I want to go down state to get my BA in fire management at SIU or not. All I know is after i get finished with my degree at PSC I am taking a school vacation haha.



In March will be my 3rd year being a firefighter and i will be able to apply for my Instructor I certificate which will let me teach basic courses and be a teacher's assistant in other courses. I was told already by one of the academys that my father and I go to a lot then when I get it to mail them a resume and that they will take a look at it and probably hire me. My dad and I continue to take courses together. This year we took a class on rope rescue and advanced auto extrication where we learned to cut up buses, semis, tractors, and other large vehicles and farm machinery. It was quite fun.



Other then my work life and school life not much is new. I am single at the time, I thought I met a few Ms. Right along the way but each turned out to have problems that they couldn't control or didn't want to. I had a girlfriend in High School that I really liked. Her name was Shauna Rose. We dated for a few months then decided to break up and still be friends. She moved to Florida in 2006 summer after I graduated. She was suppose to move back to Illinois with her family on May 5th 2007. The night before she had killed herself with an overdose of pain medicine and anti depressents. Her death still bothers me to this day and I think I'll never find someone who I liked and made me happy as much as she did.



Besides my little sad story there, I like to hang out with my friends and go bummin at the mall, watch movies and just hang out. I recently started fishing this year and absolutely love it. My friend Ben and I go whenever we can.

I was driving home from my internship and this palm tree had caught on fire somehow. Luckily the LAFD was on the scene. :)

We drove up to wine country in Santa Barbara to celebrate my friend's birthday back in April. It was beautiful.

First post

Hi everyone!

I thought I'd go ahead and get things started on what will hopefully become a fun thing for all of us to do together.

It's actually good timing for an update anyway as yesterday was my one year anniversary here in LA.

It's been an interesting year. Some great things, some setbacks. I'll admit now that I went through a few months where I really hated this city and wasn't quite sure I wanted to be an actor, but I'm glad to say that I'm past that now. Acting is back to being the incredibly fun challenge it used to be, and while LA isn't my favorite city in the world, I've created a happy life here. I don't know if it's where I want to be here forever, but I do know that I want to be here now.

Central to that is my great group of friends. I've really found some winners out here. I got really lucky with my roommate as well.

I've been having a lot of fun the past few weeks in my Groundlings classes. Groundlings is an improv troupe out here similar to Second City in Chicago. A lot of Saturday Night Live people got their start at Groundlings. Anyway, I started taking classes there and it's definitely the best seven hours of my week.

Some friends of mine from work and Groundlings (small world, even out here) have an improv/sketch group that they brought along to LA with them from UC Irvine. They held auditions last week and I decided to go. It was a rough audition. Improv is hard enough when you trust your scene partner, even more so when you're doing it with people you've just met. Then we had to break off into small groups and write a sketch in 45 minutes before performing it. It was brutal, and I had my speech prepared for when my friends told me I didn't make it (Oh, it's fine. I realize I have a lot to work on. A lot of funny people were there.). Luckily they saw some potential though and I made it in. We start rehearsals tonight and I'm really excited. It will eat up all of my free time (we rehearse on Sundays and Wednesdays and perform on Thursdays) and it doesn't pay, but I'm super excited to have an opportunity to keep practicing improv and writing with a group of talented, ambitious performers.

I was able to become SAG eligible. SAG is the union out here. It all gets very confusing, but basically now I can still do non-union work, but I can get cast in union work without penalty for the producers. Hopefully this new development will help me land a theatrical agent so I can get some television and film work. I just did a mailing about a week ago, so hopefully I'll get a response.

Work is work. The entire restaurant business is suffering right now. It's the slow time of the year and then the economy is what it is. Luckily, our restaurant still stays busier than a lot of restaurants, and I generally get good sections so I make my money.

I still do my internships for the casting directors on Monday and Friday. They're fun, but tiring. I hope they'll lead to something and they'll throw me a role someday. :)

So I am busy and things are lining up to potentially be fantastic. At the same time, I miss Chicago and all of you horribly. I can't wait to visit again (I'm thinking January), and hopefully this will be the only year that I was only able to get home once.
